Yet Tần Vân Kỳ wrongly believes Liễu Như Yên was his savior, while Lady Tần favors Liễu Như Yên over her daughter-in-law Thịnh Thanh Uẩn. When both women become pregnant, Tần Vân Kỳ forces Thịnh Thanh Uẩn to give birth, and the old lady does not object, so Thịnh Thanh Uẩn is driven away. After Liễu Như Yên becomes the heir's wife, her true face is revealed: she seizes the household's assets, harms Tần Vân Kỳ, and drives Lady Tần to her death. On her deathbed, Lady Tần sees Thịnh Thanh Uẩn come to bid her farewell and vows that, if given another life, she will tell true from false, treat Thịnh Thanh Uẩn well, and change her own fate.
