In the eleventh year of the Republic, Zhaozhao, a young beast from the ancient world, a gluttonous creature, wanders into the human world. Her hunger for free food leads her to Commander Jian Gandang, who adopts her as his daughter. Zhaozhao devours calamities and drives away the death energy that threatens the Jian household, competing for the title of "Fortune Star" with Qiutang, a girl who has transmigrated into a novel. She helps the Jian family find their long-lost son Jian Baoyou, exposes the schemes between Qiutang and Zhou Yunshen, and wakes Jian Gandang's sleeping wife. In the end, she secures her bond of kinship, gives up her glutton identity, and stays by the Jian family's side.
