Rian, the second son of Duke Calder, has long been the family's shame, yet he is secretly the chosen ward of Aurelian, the last Dragon Speaker of the continent. When half-beast warriors threaten Princess Isabel, Rian stands alone to defeat each foe, exposing the family's years of cruelty and clearing his mother Elena's name. The sovereign formally names him Dragon Speaker, but he must pass Ethel the Soul-Swapper's trial before the Undead legion's general invades. Just as envoy Zolamus turns traitor, Rian summons Aurelian, destroying the Undead general in a single strike, and returns victorious to wed Princess Isabel.
